stOneKAY

stOneKAY sounds like a dude that has embraced his growth and wants to be great. Rapping-wise, he puts up a near-flawless performance on each and every of his song. The flows that he gifts us with are impressive, the energy he raps with is impeccable, and the punch lines he dishes out are sneaky good.

We introduce you to stOneKAY so that you can have a glimpse of who he is and probably get to support his craft.

‌What made you want to become a musician?

Had the passion for music since I was young but had zero or no motivation to pursue the dream until I was old enough to understand that, "If you want something done, better do it yourself.”

‌What strengths do you have that you believe makes you a great musician?

Great music writing skills, delivery and stage performance, hardworking, patient and genre flexibility. Am also easy to connect with regardless of social status and standards.

‌What is it about music that makes you feel passionate?

In this life we all live for music one way or another. For entertainment, comfort to the sorrow, inspire and motivate, condemn and educate etc. Music is a tool that would and should make the world a better place.

‌Describe your favorite and least favorite part about being a musician.

My favorite part about being a musician is that musicians have the power to connect everyone in the world through music and playing a positive role in the society for younger generation to emulate. The least favorite part is when the audience gives little or no time for new musical acts that drives them to a point of giving up.

‌Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of music?

Yes, besides music I like traveling, meeting new people and new places and engaging in social events, I have interests in film, commercial modelling and public speaking.

‌What accomplishments do you see yourself achieving in the next 5 to 10 years?

I see myself as a household name flying the Kenyan flag on the international stage. I see myself setting up record labels to help struggling artists as I champion for better governance of the creative arts in the entertainment industry. I see myself living in a country where artists are held with high standards and rights respected.

‌Describe your creative process when you write new music.

Relating to past, present and predictive occurrence the idea is put into writing, later I engage professionals through production to arrive at satisfactory results.

‌Who's your ideal musician to collaborate with and why?

I don't limit myself and craft to any specific individual. There are many musicians both in mainstream and underground and whoever has similar visions as myself is welcome to work with me.

I am an open book, a free mind. Since music got no limitations but I would go for a conscious musician who is goal driven and morally upright.

‌Are there any musicians who inspire you? What qualities do you admire about them?

There are many musicians who have been and still are a source of inspiration. Take Nameless for an example, he has stood the test of time and is a great example of how to balance private life and the music side of life. Khaligraph Jones has also shown that hard work and consistency really pays.

‌What inspired you to start playing and making music?

To change the narrative and be part of the story. As I said before if you want something done perfectly better do it yourself.

‌What's the best piece of advice another rapper ever gave you?

There can be only one you, be you. Originality, patience, consistency and hard work.

‌What's your favorite project so far and why?

My favorite project so far is my latest single Follow. It's a song made to entertain and educate and it's getting great reception.

Word to your believers/fans?

Keep supporting and believing in me for today's dreams is tomorrow's reality.

‌What can you tell that upcoming artist who is trying real hard to a point of he/she just want to give up?

DON'T GIVE UP! NEVER GIVE UP! Patience pays, apply God's timing and remember winners never quit.
